Founding Principals

Liah P. Chin

Ms. Chin is a Co-Founding Principal of Avela Real Estate Partners, responsible for overseeing acquisitions, asset management and new business development for the company.

Ms. Chin was previously a Vice President at Artemis Real Estate Partners responsible for supporting the acquisition and asset management activities of Artemis. Artemis is a real estate investment management firm that invests in multifamily, office, industrial, retail, hospitality and seniors housing across opportunistic, value add and enhanced core strategies. Artemis' sole focus is U.S. commercial real estate. 

Previously, Ms. Chin was an Associate at The Praedium Group.  Ms. Chin was responsible for the analysis, due diligence, financing, and transaction execution functions for the acquisition of new assets, as well as for the management and disposition of existing assets.  Ms. Chin also focused on the origination of mezzanine debt and the development of condominium projects in New York City.  Prior to The Praedium Group, Ms. Chin was an Analyst at Sorin Capital Management, a real estate hedge fund, where she focused on the evaluation of high yield real estate debt investments.

Ms. Chin earned a bachelor's degree in Political Economy from Princeton University.

Etienne R. Paris

Mr. Paris is a Co-Founding Principal of Avela Real Estate Partners, responsible for overseeing acquisitions, asset management and new business development for the company.

Mr. Paris was previously on the Investments team at Innovo Property Group (“IPG”), a vertically integrated New York based real estate investment and operating company. He was involved in various roles including acquisitions and capital markets functions for the firm’s equity and debt investments. During his tenure at IPG, Mr. Paris was involved in several of the firm’s key transactions totaling an excess of $500M.

Prior to joining IPG, Mr. Paris was a Principal at DeCoene Holdings, a New York based private investment company. At DeCoene Holdings, he managed a portfolio of real estate investments in excess of $200M on behalf of ultra-high net worth investors. His responsibilities included sourcing, analysis, due diligence, and transaction execution for the acquisition of new assets, as well as the asset management of acquired assets. Mr. Paris’s real estate experience includes commercial, residential and self-storage transactions across the United States. Prior to DeCoene Holdings, Mr. Paris was a Managing Director at Reva Capital, a New York based investment banking firm.

Mr. Paris earned a bachelor's degree in Political Economy from Georgetown University.
